|Celebrating Cancer Survivors|
Cancer survivors are invited to attend our free art classes called Expressions of Art & Hope. We have partnered with LUX Center for the Arts to offer you the opportunity to explore a creative process of self-expression and reflection to help you meet the challenges of diagnosis, treatment and beyond.
Due to equipment needed, classes are held at the LUX Center for the Arts, located at 2601 N 48th Street in Lincoln. Enter the LUX from the West parking lot entrance. To register call 402-219-7000.
Tie-Dye & Batik: Monday, Sept. 12, 6-8 p.m.
Make your own crazy and colorful textile art! Make traditional tie-dye t-shirt or experiment with the glue batik technique. Come ready to make a mess and try new things! T-shirts will be provided but feel free to bring your own 100% cotton items as well. (MAX 12 participants).Register online.
Clay Cups and Bowls: Monday, Oct. 10, 6-8 p.m.
Create and glaze your own clay bowls. Molds will be used to assist in building functional and beautiful dishes for your kitchen! Multiple surface decorating techniques will be explored.
Fused Glass: Monday, Nov. 14, 6-8 p.m.
Cut and layer colorful glass to create sun catchers and pendants. Participants can create multiple projects that will be fired and returned the following class. Former students can bring previous fused glass projects to alter or include in new works.
Frosted Glass Ornaments: Monday, Dec. 12, 6-8 p.m.
Give your old wine bottles, drinking glasses and vases a new life! Using our sandblaster, we will experiment with ways to use tape, stickers, stencils and more to make designs and patterns permanently transfer to glass. Glass bottles will be provided but feel free to bring your own items as well. (MAX 12 participants)
