President's Message
Community Board Members

Today, our Community Board, which consists of 12 influential leaders, is helping us create innovative changes in health care. We work closely with them to ensure we are meeting the community's evolving heath care needs. We stand with them, working together, to help Nebraskans build healthier lives and honoring the spirit of our early health care pioneers.

Russell Bayer Russell Bayer is the Chief Financial Officer and co-owner of Data Support Systems, Inc. Russell received his Master of Science degree in Business Administration from Boston University. He serves as Chair for the Council.



Mark Butler, MD

Mark Butler, MD, is a family medicine physician with Family Health Physicians. Dr. Butler graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and did his residency with the Lincoln Medical Education Foundation Family Practice Program.



Bob Caldwell


Bob Caldwell is the Director of Corporate Development for NEBCO. Bob has a law degree and a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska. He serves on the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Board, Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development, Lincoln Children’s Zoo Board, Capital Casualty Board, and the Board of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka where he serves as Vice Chairman.

Patrick Clare, MD


Dr. Pat Clare, an orthopaedic physician in Lincoln for 42 years, was instrumental in establishing Nebraska Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine. For more than three decades, he has served as the chief orthopaedic surgeon for the Huskers.

Thomas Champoux


Thomas Champoux, an account executive at Unico, began his insurance career in 1994 and has become an expert at developing educational courses for insurance professionals.



Juan N. Franco


Juan Franco is Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. He is also serving as Interim Executive Director of Nebraska Campus Compact. Juan received his Ph.D. in counseling and guidance from New Mexico State University.




Hon. Tony Fulton


Tony Fulton is a former state senator in the Nebraska Legislature from 2007-2013. An engineer by training, Fulton has returned to mechanical engineering and worked on various energy projects. He is also an owner of Guardian Angels Homecare, an eldercare company.




Bob Jurgensmeier


Bob Jurgensmeier is the senior vice president of the chief actuary individual division for Ameritas. He is responsible for product development and management of the individual life insurance and annuity products.




Jason Kruger, MD


Dr. Kruger moved to Lincoln in 2007 and began working in the emergency department at CHI Health St. Elizabeth. He serves as the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) medical director for Lincoln Fire & Rescue and 16 other EMS agencies that surround Lincoln. In 2013, he won the Nebraska Medical Association Young Physician of the Year award.



Steve Navin

Steve Navin is a 37-year veteran of the banking industry; most recently he served as a regional President for Wells Fargo. Steve earned a graduate degree in banking from Southern Methodist University. 



Natalie Peetz 


Natalie Peetz is president of Peetz & Company, a government relations firm providing consulting services for federal, state and local issues. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Natalie served with Governor Kay Orr and spent thirteen years as Vice President for Public Policy at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
