Does Saint Elizabeth CyberKnife® Center Treat My Cancer?

Brain Cancer
Saint Elizabeth CyberKnife Center can provide localized, focused radiation treatment after brain cancer surgery without the side effects of conventional radiotherapy. The CyberKnife beam allows dose distribution to conform to even irregularly shaped tumors. The accuracy of CyberKnife has been shown to be sub-millimetric, allowing the delivery of large doses while avoiding surrounding healthy tissue. Frameless, non-invasive radiosurgery can be delivered in a single treatment session or multiple sessions. CyberKnife has successfully treated metastatic and benign intracranial tumors, perioptic tumors, and acoustic neuromas.

Kidney Cancer
Saint Elizabeth CyberKnife Center can successfully treat many kidney tumors. Renal cell carcinomas (kidney cancer tumors) are not very sensitive to small doses of radiation and normal kidney tissue is extremely sensitive to radiation. CyberKnife offers a distinct advantage to treating these and other tumors, delivering precise, high-dose stereotactic radiosurgery to treat even small kidney tumors. The CyberKnife® System is also able to effectively treat renal cell carcinoma metastases to the spine.

Liver Cancer
Saint Elizabeth CyberKnife Center can effectively treat liver cancer tumors. Tumors may be treated through CyberKnife alone or in combination with chemotherapy treatments. CyberKnife treatments have achieved tumor control in as few as one to three treatments with only mild side effects. With the introduction of the CyberKnife Synchrony Respiratory Tracking System, clinicians are better able to track liver tumors that move with respiration, thus limiting the dose to healthy adjacent liver tissue.

Lung Cancer
Saint Elizabeth CyberKnife Center can effectively treat lung cancer tumors. CyberKnife Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) has been used in the treatment of patients with inoperable Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and those with NSCLC who refused surgery. The CyberKnife System is unique in the world of SBRT, thanks to its Synchrony® Respiratory Tracking System, which tracks and compensates for tumor movement during treatment delivery.

Pancreatic Cancer
Saint Elizabeth CyberKnife Center is capable of delivering therapeutic radiation with minimal toxicity to tumors in patients with locally advanced pancreatic cancer. The CyberKnife System, equipped with the Synchrony Respiratory Tracking System makes it possible. CyberKnife has produced high rates of tumor control and is a viable pancreatic cancer treatment alternative.

Prostate Cancer
Saint Elizabeth CyberKnife Center can treat prostate cancer. CyberKnife is currently being used alone as treatment for early stage prostate cancer or as a boost following conventional radiation therapy in place of other radiation treatments. CyberKnife can track and compensate for organ motion during treatment delivery.

Spine Cancer
Saint Elizabeth CyberKnife Center treats lesions anywhere in the spine with high accuracy. Metastatic disease, benign spine tumors, and vascular malformations have been treated with CyberKnife at all levels of the spinal column. Recent published reports show high rates of tumor control, significant, rapid and durable pain relief, maintenance or improvement in mental and physical quality of life, and low rates of complications, comparable to that observed for intracranial radiosurgery treatments.
