Fundraiser to Benefit Breast Cancer Patients

October 02 2012

Lincoln, Neb. — Saint Elizabeth Foundation announces its third annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event - Power of Pink - on Friday, October 19 at the Holiday Inn Downtown – Lincoln.

“We invite the community to join us as we celebrate cancer survivors,” says Mary Trauernicht, director of oncology services at Saint Elizabeth Cancer Institute. “Proceeds from the fundraiser support programs at our new Breast Care Center and help women fighting breast cancer right here in Lincoln. This is an opportunity for the community to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.”

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for cocktails, appetizers and musical entertainment. Joel Sartore, National Geographic Photographer, will share his photography and how his wife’s battle with breast cancer refocused and reconnected him to his family and with the reason he takes pictures in the first place – to show people the natural world.

There will be a live and silent auction featuring some very unique items, including Joel Sartore prints, a Lincoln Saltdogs Skybox and jewelry from The Goldworks and Michael Tish Jewelers.

Ken Siemek, chief meteorologist at KOLN/KGIN in Lincoln, Nebraska, will be the emcee for the evening. Tickets are $25. You can visit or call 402-219-7000 for more information or to purchase tickets.

“This year, it is estimated that over 1,200 women in Nebraska will be diagnosed with breast cancer,” says Trauernicht. “We are committed to making a difference in the lives of women battling breast cancer and educating the community about the importance of screenings and early detection.”
