Leon Jons, MD

Leon Jons, MD, founded Nebraska Bariatric Medicine, located at 8207 Northwoods Drive, Suite 101 in Lincoln, to help patients with weight-related medical conditions. The services of Nebraska Bariatric Medicine are different from other weight-loss programs because they include a complete medical evaluation from an obesity perspective. The assessment looks at the reasons people gain weight and why they have difficulty losing weight. Then, an individual treatment plan is developed for each patient. Treatment programs may include one of two new weight-loss drugs, setting specific behavioral and physical activity goals, evaluating medications that can cause weight gain or weight-loss difficulties and monitoring food intake. Dr. Jons works closely with primary care providers and other specialists to coordinate care so that all members of the health care team can support the patient.
